Kelly Hoerdt kicked off a training hat trick on Saturday, March 2 at Fraser Downs with a victory in the evening's featured class.
Hoerdt kicked off his training triad of triumphs with Armycaptin Hanover in race three, the top class of the night as a claiming pace worth $8,500. Hoerdt drove his trainee from post seven in the field of seven. The pair got away fourth through the opening panel in :26.3 and half in :55.2 before tipping to the outside first over. Armycaptin Hanover achieved the lead from the outside at the three-quarters in 1:23.3 and then sprinted home to a 6-1/4-length romp in 1:52.1. Rum N Raisins (John Abbott) finished second and Loaded Dragon (Allan Molloy) completed the triactor.
Armycaptin Hanover (Captaintreacherous-Allamerican Coed) is an eight-year-old gelding and winner of three races from six starts this year. In his career, Armycaptin Hanover has had 39 victories and earned $296,601 in purses. He returned $4.80 as the favourite.
Hoerdt also scored with Bay Street Buddy ($3.50), driven to a 2-1/4-length victory in 1:56 by Molloy, and Beach Myst ($3.50), driven to victory in 1:57.3 by himself.
