Double Millionaire To Western Fair

One of Canada’s most popular and durable trotters will make a rare appearance at Western Fair Raceway in next Monday’s Preferred Trot

.

Abbey Road C will leave from Post 8 in Race 3 on Monday, the $13,500 co-feature. The winner of over $2 million will have his trainer, Keith Jones, in the bike, as usual. In a remarkable career that has seen the now-11-year-old gelding make 256 starts, Jones has been in the bike for each and every one as his driver.

A $11,000 purchase by Jones for owner, the late George Charlton, at the Royal Blue Yearling Sale, Abbey Road C hasn’t raced at the London, Ont. oval for almost three years. He raced at Western Fair twice in 2007 and three times in Ontario Sires Stakes action as a three-year-old in 2002.

Abbey Road C was a multiple OSS winner at two and three and has since gone on to become one of the most consistent trotters of all time. Other stakes and impressive performances under his harness include wins in the Horseman Series, Frank Ryan, Earl Rowe, Dream of Glory (many stakes on more than one occasion), and a third-place finish in the million-dollar Breeders Crown at Mohawk in 2003.

First-race post time for Monday’s card, which also includes a Preferred Pace (Race 5) and Mares Preferred (Race 4) is 3:35 p.m. Program pages and live video footage is available at www.westernfair.com.
