It has been reported that Bob Dewar, a key figure in the Prince Edward Island harness racing scene who passed away in 1986, was recently honoured by the city of Summerside, as a street was named after him

An article by the Journal Pioneer explains that Dewar, who played a major role in keeping Summerside Raceway operating over the years, saw the track through multiple upgrades and also negotiated a lease agreement with the then-town of Summerside for the Prince County Horsemen’s Club to take over the facility.
According to the report, city officials along with family and friends recently gathered at Willow Street to unveil the street sign bearing Dewar’s name.
The street extends south from Willow Street to the parking lot at Credit Union Place.
