Best Show In Town lived up to his name on Sunday thanks to a sharp performance in the $12,100 Preferred Pace at Rideau Carleton Raceway
for the tandem of trainer Gerard Demers and driver Guy Gagnon.
The seven-year-old son of Grinfromeartoear wasted no time in establishing the lead, and once he took charge he didn’t look back. The roan gelding splashed through splits of :27.2, :58.2 and 1:27.4 over a track rated sloppy before finishing off his foes with a :29.2 final frame.
Match Bayama came up a length short to grab the runner-up spot behind Best Show In Town, who stopped the clock in 1:57.1. Littlebitoflife, who was sent off as the 6-5 favourite, was third.
Best Show In Town, who is owned by 9174 7998 Quebec Inc. of Blainville, QC, won for the 35th time in his career. He has banked in excess of $294,000 to date.
