Innisfil Mayor Barb Baguley has gone on the record regarding the fact that live horse racing will continue at Georgian Downs.
On Tuesday, March 26 it was announced by both the Ontario Liberal Government and Georgian's operator, the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, that a transitional funding agreement has been reached between the two parties which will see live horse racing continue at the Innisfil track beyond March 31 of this year.
“We know there is an opportunity for racing at Georgian Downs and that’s a good deal for Innisfil,” Baguley was quoted as saying in an article on simcoe.com.
Baguley added, “Georgian Downs is definitely a signpost for our community. It’s highlight visible. It’s an opportunity for recreation.”
