Sophomore Stakes Action Featured At Fraser

Real Suspicion scored in the $23,000 Delta Final for pacing fillies on Friday at Fraser Downs while Primary Purpose and Bo Knows Power dominated their respective $7,500 Sandown Plate eliminations for the boys

Real Suspicion, driven by Kevin Anderson, tracked her entrymate Oral Fixation (Jim Marino) through panels of :27.4, :58.4, and 1:28.1 before popping the pocket in front of the grandstand. The Life Sign filly nosed out a quick-closing With Bells On (Clinton Warrington) for the win in 1:58.1. Oral Fixation finished third.

Now two-for-two, the Debra McCarthy pupil has banked $13,000 for the J J J Stables of Aldergrove, B.C. and Mark Anderson of Willows, California.

In the first non-betting Sandown Plate elimination, Rod Therres’ Primary Purpose led from start to finish equaling his mark of 1:56. The Cammibest colt carved out fractions of :28.3, :57.2 and 1:27.1 while maintaining a two length lead ahead of his four rivals. With a :28.4 final frame, Primary Purpose held off the pocket-sitter, Camblazer (David Hudon) for the victory by half a length. Lil Western Dude (Scott Knight) finished back in third.

Therres co-owns the bay, who has triumphed eight times in nine career starts earning $69,424, with Charles Macfarlane of Victoria, B.C. The win also marked training win number 500 for Therres.

Bo Knows Power stole the show in the second elim winning in 1:58.3 for trainer/driver Bill Davis. The Power Of Art gelding secured the lead ahead of Im The Money (David Hudon) after a 30-second first quarter. Bo Knows Power then rolled to the half in :59.3 before opening up by three lengths at three-quarters in 1:29. With a :29.3 final quarter, the heavy favourite extended his lead winning by four and three-quarter lengths.

Cruisersluckyseven (Jim Marino) recovered from an early break and closed well to finish second in front of Im The Money.

Owned by the J J J Stables and Anderson, Bo Knows Power scored his third win in five starts this year lifting his earnings to over $20,000.
