If the connections of Northern Escort were to map out a winning strategy before Thursday night's $11,000 Preferred 2 Trot at Flamboro Downs, it would be difficult to imagine that the actual race would have varied much from such a plan.
After J.R. Plante was able to wrestle the lead from rail horse Winkys Pride (Scott Coulter) there was nary a tense moment for Northern Escort, who trotted comfortably through fractions of :28, :57.4, and 1:27 before jaunting home in a less-than-stressed :30.4 to trip the timer in a solid 1:57.4 over Cold Certified (Robert Shepherd) with Dragin The Wagon (Anthony Haughan) more than four lengths back in third.
The win was the third in 11 seasonal starts for six-year-old Northern Escort (Kadabra-Tease Please), trained by Stephane Larocque for Les Ecuries JYJ Inc of St-Andre-D'Argenteuil, Que. All three of Northern Escort's wins in 2015 have come in the Preferred class at Flamboro Downs.
