O Lucky Me powered to the front and overwhelmed a good field Friday at The Meadows, capturing her second straight $15,000 leg in the Quarter Mile, a series for three- and four-year-old pacing fillies and mares
. The triumph marked O Lucky Me as the clear favourite in next week’s estimated $25,000 series final.
Trainer-driver Ray Paver wanted no part of an early seat, as he sent O Lucky Me to the lead from Post 7 in a contested :27.4 first panel. But it was no contest from there, as the three-year-old daughter of The Panderosa-Natchitoches steadily widened her margin to prevail in 1:54.2, knocking 1.2 seconds off her lifetime mark. Joltofthunder was 3-3/4 lengths back in second, with Imperial Flower a rallying third.
Steve Jones bred and owns O Lucky Me, who has finished in the money in all five 2010 starts.
Dave Palone drove four winners on the 13-race card.
