A $450 million undertaking to erect a new complex which will feature a hotel and casino at the BC Place was announced today by the BC government
.
An article on theglobeandmail.com states that the new 100,000-square-foot casino operation is expected to generate $130 million in annual gambling revenues to be distributed to the province.
The project, which is expected to create 8,500 direct and indirect jobs during construction and operation, had been rumoured during the days leading up to the announcement.
“I am pleased to confirm what many people have been discussing,” BC Premier Gordon Campbell told a news conference in the domed stadium today.
