Rumours have been swirling that in the future live racing in the province of British Columbia will be consolidated to just one locale

.

Currently, harness racing in the province is conducted at Fraser Downs in Surrey, while thoroughbred racing takes place at Hastings Park in east Vancouver.

In an article by Tom Wolski in The Province, Rich Coleman, BC's housing minister and the man in charge of horse racing in the province, was quoted as saying, "for synergy, if we are all realistic, we should be racing at one place."

Coleman went on to say, "and I do not think anyone wants to build a new racetrack given the price. This would mean both industries racing at one racetrack, which would be Hastings."
