In advance of their first scheduled live day of racing for 2022 on Monday, April 11, Plainridge Park will open its track to trainers wishing to work their horses on Monday, March 28 and it will be available for workouts every day (except Sundays) from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. until the meet begins.
There will also be two days of qualifying races offered prior to opening and those will be held on Monday (April 4) -- enter by 9:00 a.m. on Friday (April 1) -- and Thursday (April 7) -- enter by 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday (April 5). Post time for both qualifying days will be 1:00 p.m.
The condition sheet for the first week of racing (April 11-14) is now available on the United States Trotting Association’s website.
Please note that the live harness racing schedule for 2022 has changed. It starts out with a Monday-Tuesday-Thursday rotation for April, May, June and July until Friday is added on July 29 and continues through the end of August. Post time for all race days from April through August is 4 p.m. The one exception is the Grand Circuit card held on Sunday (July 24) that features the $250,000 Spirit of Massachusetts trot and the $100,000 Clara Barton distaff pace. Post time for that day is 2:00 p.m.
In September, racing reverts back to Monday-Tuesday-Thursday until September 18 when Sunday is added through the month of October, with the exception of October 30 (Halloween). Post time also moves back to 2:00 p.m. Sundays are then dropped in November and the Monday-Tuesday-Thursday schedule returns for the final month of the meet until Thanksgiving Thursday (November 24) which will be dark and raced on Friday (November 25) which is closing day. Post time in November is 1:00 p.m.
