Claiming increases in jobs, tax revenues and tourism opportunities, horse-racing parties in Georgia have said that they will be pitching the idea of live racing in the state in the Legislature in 2014.
A report by myfoxatlanta.com has explained that the Georgia Horse Racing Coalition and the Jockey Club will be combining forces for the 2014 push.
"I think horse racing would be very successful in the State of Georgia," Reeves Thoroughbred Racing owner Patty Reeves said in the report. "It would create jobs, bring revenue to the state --- and what I think the most important thing is that it would encourage people to breed their horses in the State of Georgia."
The article states that, according to the pro-racing groups, initial surveys show that Georgians would be in support of live racing being introduced in the state.
