Minnesota Racino Option Not Dead Yet

On Wednesday, March 24, Minnesota State Representative Al Juhnke was successful in inserting his proposal to legalize video lottery terminals at state racetracks into a

biomass study bill.

According to a report on politicsinminnesota.com, Juhnke offered an amendment to HF 2100 in the House Agriculture, Rural Economies and Veterans Affairs Committee -- a committee in which he chairs. The bill, which passed on a voice vote, was sent to the House Finance Committee.

The article also cites racino proponents in the state as saying that if VLTs were legalized and operational at Canterbury Park and harness racetrack Running Aces, the move would result in $125 million coming into the state.
