Sent off as the 1-5 favourite, Howmacfiesty travelled a ground-saving trip from the pocket, pulling around the final turn to win the $8,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace at Flamboro Downs on Saturday, March 24 in 1:57.
From the outermost post, Drivingthedragon N progressed to the front, pacing a :28.1 quarter with Howmacfiesty drafting second. On The Minute Mark, from fourth, edged first over moving to the half, pressuring the leader through a :58.2 split before faltering into the backstretch.
With On The Minute Mark out of contention, owner-trainer-driver J. Bradley Harris tipped the favourite off the rail at three-quarters, timed in 1:27.3. Drawing alongside of Drivingthedragon N at the top of the stretch, Howmacfiesty dashed to the top, winning by three-and-a-half lengths at the wire.
Big Lis, from third over, rallied for second and Drivingthedragon N held third.
A five-year-old mare by Carnivore out of the Largo mare Bradelle, Howmacfiesty, paying $2.40 to win, won her fourth race in nine starts this season and her 20th in 86 overall, earning $131,091.
