R Raised Emotion cruised wire-to-wire to win the $23,800 final of the Born To Trot Series Final on Saturday night at Kawartha Downs
. The series, which featured two preliminary legs prior to tonight's final, is for non-winners of one race as of Feb. 24.
After winning his first round division and sitting out in the second leg, 5-2 second choice R Raised Emotion left from Post 2 and carved out fractions of :29, :59.4, and 1:29 en route to a new lifetime mark of 1:58.2 for trainer-driver Per Henriksen. Second leg victor Northern Triumph finished over three lengths behind off a pocket trip while J M Deception rallied home for third over the popular first leg winner Betweentwopillows.
R Raised Emotion was making his fifth career start and paid $7.10 to win for the third straight time. The sophomore Kadabra-World Class Image gelding, who has earned $20,525 lifetime, is owned and bred by Thomas and Elizabeth Rankin of St. Catharines, Ont.
