Cenalta Token is a homebred daughter of Mystery Chase who races for Gordon, Helen and Myrna Empey with Rene Goulet training and Jake Cutting guides.
In the first big-money clash for this group on Feb. 10, she proved a winning 3-2 favourite by coming first-over and prevailing by a lengthin 1:59.1.
In the most recent stakes dance two weeks ago, the bay miss sat a tracking trip for Cutting until the drive, took aim at the leaders once straightened for home and left little doubt with a two and a half-length victory in 1:59.
Polar Storm and Bin A Mystery, who have captured the first two big-money dances for the four-year-old pacing males at this meet, get another chance to settle the score in the other big-money event.
The first stakes clash of the season on Feb. 2 went to Polar Storm. Sent off the 9-5 second choice that evening, he sat patiently to the lane and ignited when it counted for Nick Roland to prevail by a 1-3/4 lengths in 1:56.3.
The most recent gathering for this group took place two weeks ago and it was Bin A Mystery posing for pictures after a 1:57.4 score with James Kennedy while Polar Storm had to settle for third in the blanket finish.
Polar Storm is an Alan and Cheryl Sandbulte homebred and conditioned by Roland, while Bin A Mystery is owned by Mark Anderson and trained by Kennedy.
Jack Rabbit Slims takes them all the way
Jack Rabbit Slims is one of the many iconic settings in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, and it’s also the name of a trotter who was seen posing for pictures after the Gary Budahn Free-For-All last weekend.
The five-year-old son of Muscle Hill, who races for Chris Schick and is reined and trained by Luke Plano, had been pounding on the door in his previous two efforts in the Open ranks while coming from well back.
Plano decided to take things into his own hands last Sunday, motoring right to the top with Jack Rabbit Slims and never left a doubt with his 2-3/4-length decision in 1:56.2 over veteran Pridecrest, who also carries the Schick banner.
A bit later on that card, Allmyxsliventexas upped his lifetime bankroll over the $350,000 mark while earning his 64th lifetime score in the DHA Pace.
Like Jack Rabbit Slims, the 12-year-old Wayne Knittel homebred took complete control of proceedings from the car departing and never looked like a loser with regular companion Mooney Svendsen guiding the Bob Johnson trainee to a 1:53.4 victory.
