The faster of the $18,000 featured trots at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday night (March 23) went the way of 6-5 favourite Bar Brawl as he never saw another rival in progress to a 1:56.1 win.
Driver Louis Philippe-Roy grabbed the lead with Bar Brawl out of post eight and opened 3-1/4 lengths on pocket-sitter Devils Arch through a :27 first quarter. Devil Arch then broke stride up the backside, giving Bar Brawl a five-length lead to a :57 half. His lead shortened a tad to three-quarters in 1:26.2 before quickly expanding off the turn to a five-length margin as he coasted home chased by Century Jaguar in second. Belvedere Bronx closed to finish third with Sayonara Royalty fourth.
Gino Toscani owns Bar Brawl, a four-year-old stallion by Muscle Mass. Garry Merner trains the $4.30 winner.
