For the second time this month, stablemates Witch Dali and Ms Mac N Cheese swept the top spots in the $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace at Woodbine for Canada's top trainer Richard Moreau.
Doug McNair drove the winner Witch Dali while Louis-Philippe Roy was aboard Ms Mac N Cheese. The distaffers also finished 1-2 in their last Preferred outing on March 2.
P L Hurricane and Trevor Henry beat the popular stablemates off the gate and crossed in front during a :27.2 opening quarter, but Ms Mac N Cheese quickly looped to the lead with Witch Dali following. They reached the half in :56 and three-quarters in 1:25 with Circle The Page on the move from the back of the five-pack. Down the stretch, Witch Dali held her ground to win the Friday night feature in 1:53 flat while Ms Mac N Cheese came through along the pylons and held on for second-place just ahead of Circle The Page.
Witch Dali paid $5.40 to win. Owned by Brad Grant, the seven-year-old Dali-Whitesand Gem mare is now two-for-five this year and boasts 25 career victories with earnings in excess of $500,000.
The victory was the first of three on the 10-race program for Moreau.
