Ron Pierce, driving Libra Vita, shook off a determined bid from Second Hand News and Corey Callahan to persever in the week’s top trot. Owned by Howard Taylor and Tom Lazzaro, the Striking Sahbra-Balanced Scale gelding has now earned $594,845 in his career. LTs Best (Vince Copeland) closed strongly to edge Master In Charge (Vic Kirby) for third.
Allmar Surprise used her trademark wire-to-wire style to turn back seven foes in 1:56.4 to chalk up her fourth win of the year in the $12,500 sub-feature trot. Vic Kirby, who trains and drives the Angus Hall-Bertha Victory six-year-old for Chris Giaccio, was chased home by the only other female in the field Sea Raven (Ron Pierce). Jabez (Jon Roberts) was the third-place finisher.
A third trot on the card offered a $10,000 purse and veteran Joey The Jet JT splashed to victory in 1:58.3. Ross Wolfenden drove the Wesgate Crown-NV Becky gelding for trainer Eric Ell and owners Ken Wood and Bill Dittmar. Letmetellusumthin (Vic Kirby) closed for second. Super Chuck (Vince Copeland) was third.
Corey Callahan drove four winners to tie Ron Pierce for first place in dash win standings. Allan Davis and trainer Dylan Davis had three wins each. Johnny Waite had two training wins.
