A poll of 801 randomly-selected New Jersey residents has found that 56 per cent those polled are in favour of legalized, expanding gaming options at state racetracks, while only 36 per cent of those polled are opposed to the measure.

The results of the poll -- conducted by Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Public Mind -- were released yesterday, according to an article by northjersey.com.

The article states that support for gambling at New Jersey racetracks dropped slightly from 2009, when the margin of support was 63 per cent to 30 per cent. The margin of error of the poll is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

An interesting aspect of the poll is that the poll also found a 51 per cent to 40 per cent opposition to allowing such betting at off-track wagering sites.
