Perfect Night For Larocque

Trainer Stephane Larocque had a perfect night at the races on Friday, winning with all of his starts on the March 21 program at Woodbine Racetrack.

His wins came courtesy of five-year-old gelding Mister Icon ($8.50) and sophomore filly Violet Bayama ($5.30).

With three-time Friday winner James MacDonald aboard, Mister Icon won the fourth race for $8,000 claiming pacers in 1:53.4 for the Larocque stable and owner Les Ecuries Piramidan. However, the son of Stonebridge Regal, now boasting a three-race win streak, was claimed away by Jonah Moase and Mitch Tierney.

Violet Bayama later romped to a career-best victory in 1:54.1 in the 11th race fillies and mares pace. Two-time defending Driver of the Year, Sylvain Filion, drove the homebred Somebeachsomewhere filly for owners Bayama Farms Inc. and Jacques Damours.

Having sent out 12 winners from his stable so far in 2014, Larocque is on pace to set a new career-best win count this year.
