Officials with Kawartha Downs have informed Trot Insider that the Fraserville, Ont. track has carded a race to honour the late Brenna Seeley
.
The track's Thursday, March 24 live program will feature the Brenna Seeley Memorial Trot. The dash has been carded as Race 9 and will feature a field of nine. Manzzuto has been installed as the 5-2 morning line favourite from Post 9. The dash has an estimated post time of 6:00 p.m.
During the early morning hours of Thursday, December 9, Seeley, 24, of Guelph, Ont., was killed in a car accident on the outskirts of Russell, near Ottawa, Ont. She would have turned 25 on Thursday.
Seeley worked at Kawartha Downs for Telephoto assisting with photo finish equipment. She also previously worked as a groom for Susie Kerwood.
Seeley had also twice graced the pages of the Toronto Sun as a Sunshine Girl. She had told Trot Insider her story of being discovered while working as a waitress to set aside enough money to invest in a farm and standardbreds.
