Owner Robin Burke announced on Thursday, March 21 the addition of trotting stallion Rock Of Cashel (1:51.3; $972,545) to the Burkie By The Bay Stables roster for the 2024 breeding season in P.E.I.
Trained for most of his career by veteran conditioner Mark Harder, the 14-year-old son of Majestic Son-Fighting Irish earned just shy of $1 million on the track.
“What a fun horse to train for 10 years," commented Harder. "He was a personality on the track and in the barn; you always could trust him to give a great effort and he always did every year.”
Regular driver Todd McCarthy added, "'Rocky' was a pleasure to drive. A hardy horse with great tactical speed who loved his job.”
Rock Of Cashel took his lifetime mark of 1:51.3 in th spring of his seven-year-old campaign while defeating JL Cruze in an Open event at The Meadowlands.
A winner of 56 races, 'Rocky' also excelled on the half-mile track, winning multiple Open events at Yonkers Raceway and Preferreds at Freehold Raceway.
From a small test crop of two mares, Rock Of Cashel is a 100 per cent producer in Hardrockcafe 3,1:55.2f; BT1:53 ($38,453) and Shell Come Back 2:00.2f; BT1:59.2f ($24,885).
Rock Of Cashel stands for an introductory fee of $1,500 with multiple mare discounts of $1,250 per mare.
