Drivers and horses were not seriously injured in an accident that took place during Friday night's final race at Fraser Downs, according to early reports.
Driver Randy Rutledge was unseated during the incident that took place shortly after the start of the 11th race, but Fraser Downs officials confirmed he was able to walk off the track under his own power. His mount, Anjelles Aura, ran loose before being corralled by the track's outrider.
The accident occurred when Queens Heritaj (J.F. Gagne) broke stride in third-place along the pylons, scattering the field. Most of the field was able to avoid collision, but trailing tier starter Brooklets Amazed (David McKellar) was following Queens Heritaj and also broke stride due to interference. Anjelles Aura collided from behind and fell causing Rutledge to be dumped from his sulky.
Queens Heritaj and Brooklets Amazed pulled up after the incident. The remaining six starters completed the race, which was won by favourite Genuine Promise and trainer/driver Allan Molloy in wire-to-wire fashion in 1:58 over the sloppy track.
