Jim Morand took Europan Union right to the front and held off all challengers to score a 1:50.1 victory in the $30,000 Delaware Special on Thursday, March 21 at Dover Downs.

After finishing second by a nose the previous week, Europan Union reversed the finish this week edging Nova Artist and Allan Davis by a head. A six-year-old No Pan Intended-Pansatlantic gelding owned by trainer Ed Gannon Jr., Europan Union won for the third time this year. He has earned $52,150 of his career bankroll of $514,865 this season. Nova Artist, in his first start in a month, was a game second. Eagle All, with Ron Pierce, finished third.

Ron Pierce guided Adventure Bound to a 1:51 victory in the $24,000 Open Handicap Pace for his third win of 2013. Eric Ell conditions the Camluck-Unchained Speed gelding for Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta. Adventure Bound has now won $57,540 this year and $230,062 lifetime.

The same connection –- owners, trainer and driver -- made the winner’s circle later when Ise The By Boy notched a 1:53 victory in an $11,500 Male pace.

Bob Hamather’s homebred Kyle Major powered to a 1:50.3 triumph in a $16,500 Male Winners Over Pace beating Wahine (Tony Morgan) and Handsome Henry K (Frank Milby). The six-year-old Art Major-So Clear pacer, trained by Josh Green, pushed his career earnings to $577,584.

North America’s leading driver Corey Callahan added four victories to his track and 2013 totals.
