Driver Gerry Belanger worked out a perfect second over trip aboard Victom As to triumph in the $15,000 Preferred 2 Trot featured at Flamboro Downs on Wednesday

afternoon.

Rebounding after a break in his last Preferred start at Western Fair Raceway one month ago, Victom As got away sixth in the eight-horse field and followed the cover of favourite Flashback (Mario Baillargeon), who eventually faded to last in the stretch. Victom As, however, rallied home to score over last week's winner Hour Lavec (Billy Davis Jr.), who had carved out fractions of :28, :57.2, and 1:27. Victom As prevailed by three-quarters of a length in 1:57. Chewey (Robert Shepherd) finished three lengths behind in third.

The Striking Sahbra-Next Victom gelding is trained and owned by John Drennan of Burlington, Ont. The win was his second in six starts as a five-year-old and pushed his seasonal earnings to $17,150. Lifetime, Victom As has posed for 15 win photos and has banked $179,110.

The 5-1 third choice paid $12.80 to win.
