Ron Pierce needed every inch of the racetrack to win the $32,000 Invitational Pace at the Meadowlands on Saturday night with Mr Hallowell
, who had to work hard for the money.
The six-year-old Bullvons Dream-Wingn White Shoes gelding was parked the entire mile, but that didn’t stop him from eking out the nose decision over pacesetter Jeremys Successor. Tyler Buter chopped out fractions of :27.1, :54.4 and 1:22.2 with Jeremys Successor, who was hounded every step of the way by the parked out Mr Hallowell.
Mr Hallowell used a :27.3 closing quarter to prevail by a nose over Jeremys Successor in 1:50.1. Hypnotic Blue Chip, who sat last through the first half of the mile, rallied well to round out the top three.
Chris Carrubba conditions the pacer for the Cookie N Mo Stables Inc of Merrick, NJ and Jonathan Klee Racing Inc of Mineola, NY. It was the fourth win of the season for the 19-time winner, who has stashed away more than $226,000 in his career.
