Richard Moreau trainee Bella Cavalla powered first over to a 1:56.3 victory in the faster of two $18,000 divisions of the featured class on Thursday night (March 2).
Driver James MacDonald floated Bella Cavalla to race fifth early while Crystal Baller bolted towards the lead in :27.2. Bella Cavalla got underway along the rim to a :58 half and ranged to within a head of the lead to three-quarters in 1:27.2. The four-year-old Dover Dan mare then spun for home onto a 2-1/2-length lead and strolled towards the finish while chased by fast-closing Sir Ballykeel to win by 1-3/4 lengths at the beam. Century Jaguar stalled along the center of the track for third and Come Home For Life settled for fourth.
Michael and Sam Sergi own Bella Cavalla, a now six-time winner in 38 starts and an earner of $68,387. She paid $4.40 to win.
