Since arriving at Buffalo Raceway from Dover Downs in early February, Manceiver has been successfully climbing up the class ladder. On Saturday, March 2, Manceiver reached the top rung of the ladder and buried the field in the $11,000 Open Handicap Pace in 1:56.3 over the 'good' track.
Manceiver wasted little time in showing who was the boss and zoomed off the gate to the lead. He set fractions of :28.3, :57.2 and 1:27.0 while widening his lead to two lengths turning into the stretch. Mr Euroman N gave chase to finish second three-and-a-quarter lengths behind while Golden Gesture took third.
Manceiver is a five-year-old gelding by Sportswriter-Swift N Shout who is owned by Mike Torcello and conditioned by Gerry Sarama. It was his fourth victory in seven appearances, moving his winnings to $19,890 and $114,527 lifetime. Shawn Gray drove the $4.50 winner.
In the first $9,500 sub-featured race, Southwind Torque popped pocket at the top of the stretch and managed to hold off Harry Hoo N by three-quarter lengths in 1:59.1.
Bugatti set splits of :29.0, :59.4 and 1:30.0 with Southwind Torque enjoying the garden-spot trip. After sneaking past Bugatti, Southwind Torque hung on late as Harry Hoo N made a strong bid in the passing lane but settled for second with Bugatti in third.
Co-owned by the Vogel & Wags Nags Stable and Jack Rice, Southwind Torque is a seven-year-old gelding by Somebeachsomewhere-Tsunami Hanover who is trained by Maria Rice. The win, his third in seven starts, upped his seasonal earnings to $14,100 and $202,758 lifetime. Billy Davis Jr. drove the $3.30 winner.
In the other $9,500 contest, Im So Handsome relinquished the lead to Whosurpapa before the first quarter but surged back to the front late to win.
With Whosupapa setting the pace with :29.2, :59.3 and 1:29.3, Im So Handsome powered by in mid stretch to take a half-length victory. Santana Beach took third.
Owned by Torcello and trained by Sarama, it was the second score in five tries this year for Im So Handsome, by Hot Pans-Cheyenne Rose. The victory moved his 2019 bankroll to $14,640 and $206,000 in his career. David McNeight III steered the $7.50 winner.
Woodmere Fullalife, driven by Ray Fisher Jr., sprung a huge upset in the fourth race with a $127.50 victory. With 35-to-1 shot Spring Terror rolling into second, it produced a $1,330 exacta.
Gray finished the evening with a five-bagger and Denny Bucceri posted three wins while Davis Jr. and Fisher Jr. doubled. Clouser Jr. had a training triple with Sarama and Jeff Amann collecting a pair of wins.
Racing will continue on Wednesday, March 6 at 5 p.m. with an 11-race card scheduled. There will be a $2,124 carryover in the Pick-5 which starts in the second race.
