Morrill Jr. Wins Seven In Buffalo Return

Driver Jim Morrill Jr. began his 2013 campaign at Buffalo Raceway Friday (March 1) by winning seven on the 13-race card.

After having to wait an additional 48 hours due to Wednesday’s cancellation, Morrill had no trouble finding his way to the winner’s circle by taking the early double aboard His Albien and Ranger Gus.

In the middle portion of the card Morrill strung together a three-bagger winning races five through seven with Redford Hall, JAs Charmer, and Cannae Barron.

Morrill closed out the evening by taking race 11 with Eternal Revenue and the finale with Make Me Late.

The successful debuts continued in the $11,000 Open Trot. Ziegfeld, making his first start of 2013 for trainer Gerry Sarama, used a great stretch drive to get over the finish line first in 1:58.2. Driver Dave McNeight III pulled the gelding three-wide as they approached the top of the stretch and pulled away to a three and a half length victory over Talladega Hanover and Joey Chestnut.

It was the 13th lifetime win for the five-year-old gelding owned by J M L Stables.
