He launched from last to first to win in the Free For All Pace just two weeks ago, but on Saturday (March 18) Saulsbrook Victor returned to aggressive tactics and dominated his peers in the $36,000 Free For All Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Wheels On Fire took the lead to a :27.2 first quarter but soon found himself in a pocket as driver Austin Sorrie circled 6-5 favourite Saulsbrook Victor to the point. Cruising through a :55 half, Saulsbrook Victor coasted and then clicked three-quarters in 1:23 before scooting away from his competition. The winning time was 1:50.4. Wheels On Fire gave futile chase from second, beaten 2-1/2 lengths, with Points North rallying to take third and Roll With The Flow finishing fourth.
Trained by Ronald MacDonald for owners Brett MacDonald and Brent MacLennan, Saulsbrook Victor won his 15th race from 54 starts and has now earned $300,865. He paid $4.40 to win.
