Beyond Better Still Undefeated

Going unraced as a rookie, showing early talent at age three and hailing from the barn of trainer Bob McIntosh. Sound familiar?

All you have to do is think back to last year and the O’Brien Award-winning filly Sunny Dee comes to mind. Well, McIntosh might have another star in the making and he fits into those same categories.

Beyond Better is his name and to this point in his career, winning has been his game. The three-year-old son of Bettors Delight-Somethinincredible is now 3-for-3 to kick off his career thanks to a facile score in 1:54.4 in a $16,000 conditioned assignment Thursday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Trevor Henry shot to the top from Post 5 with the 1-5 favourite, and together they sliced through fractions of :28, :58.1 and 1:27.3. Henry sat chilly on the gelding to that point, before giving the youngster marching orders late in the mile. The pacer responded with a final quarter clocked in :27.1. That translated into a win by 1-3/4 lengths over Resounding in 1:54.4.

Robert Mcintosh Stables Inc, C S X Stables and Dave Boyle share ownership on the homebred who was one of 77 sophomores to make the nomination payment to the Pepsi North America Cup.
