Dont Deny Me sat second over and slingshot past tiring leaders to win the first of two divisions of the $20,000 Jersey Girls Series Thursday night at the
Meadowlands.
Dave Miller and Dont Deny Me [$5.20 $3.80 $3.00] followed Natalie up the backstretch as she tried to pass the leader, Saymynamesaymyname. Natalie couldn’t clear and it became a duel between the two with Dont Deny Me waiting for the perfect moment to make a move. Dont Deny Me flew past the weary leaders in the stretch to win the night’s sixth race in 1:52. Four Starz Horndog [$5.60 $3.60] was second and Apere Hanover [$4.00] finished third.
Dont Deny Me, trained and owned by Ken Rucker, is two for five in 2009. She has improved her career earnings to more than $144,000.
Ramona Disomma [$6.80 $4.20 $2.60] and driver George Brennan took the second division of the Jersey Girls Series, after making a late rally down the stretch in 1:52.2. Autumn Magic [$13.80 $6.60] was second and Teenage Paige [$3.40] was a close third. The win marks Ramona Disomma’s second in seven starts this year for trainer Jacob Hartline. Romona Disomma boosted her career earnings to more than $142,000 for owner Anatolia Racing Stable.
The Jersey Girls Series continues next Thursday with a $20,000 second leg.
