Let It Ride N turned live second-over cover into a 1:50.3 win in Thursday’s (March 17) $32,500 Preferred Handicap Pace at Dover Downs.
Movin On Up and Penzance Hanover were quickest off the gate, landing one-two through a :27 first quarter over good going while Let It Ride N landed in sixth. Movin On Up maintained a quick pace through a :54.3 half before facing a stern first-over challenge from Sprocket, who stuck a head in front at three-quarters in 1:22.3 while also towing Let It Ride N into contention.
Sprocket stalled on the far turn after his :26.4 backstretch blitz, but Let It Ride N vaulted off cover and paced 2-1/4 lengths clear of Movin On Up under wraps. Penzance Hanover finished third after riding the pocket throughout.
Victor Kirby drove Let It Ride N, a nine-year-old Rock N Roll Heaven gelding who paid $3.40 to win, for trainer Richard “Nifty” Norman’s Enzed Racing Stable and William Hartt.
Live harness racing returns to Dover Downs on Monday (March 21), with a $6,210 Pick-5 carryover in race six and a first post time of 4:30 p.m.
