Western Baron Is Fine At Nine

Western Baron continued his undefeated nine-year-old campaign on Sunday afternoon and helped wrap up a big weekend of racing for Fraser Downs' leading trainer and driver Bill Davis.

With just three prior wins in the last two years, Western Baron has been nothing but perfect in 2014. The son of Astreos earned his seventh straight victory, winning by more than three lengths, on Sunday in a lifetime-best clocking of 1:55.2 over the sloppy track for local owner/breeder Mate Hecimovic.

Western Baron earned his past six wins in a $6,000 claiming-conditioning class while his latest was in a $7,400 event for non-winners of six or $35,000 lifetime (B.C. bred $44,000).

Davis ended the weekend with six wins -- three on Friday and another three on Sunday's card.
