Anders Bluestone was at the top of his game winning the $26,000 Open Trot on Wednesday, March 16 at Dover Downs. Ron Pierce continued with a hot hand driving five winners
giving him 17 wins since Sunday.
After big efforts in recent weeks, Anders Bluestone romped to an impressive 1:55.1 victory in the week’s top trot with Ross Wolfenden in the passenger’s seat. Ken Wood and Bill Dittmar own the five-year-old Yankee Glide-Annette Hanover horse whose 2011 resume now includes three wins, two seconds and a third in eight races. He has earned $48,070 this year and $237,875 lifetime. Photo Maxx (Jon Roberts) closed from fifth to finish second with Master In Charge (Vic Kirby) third.
Ron Pierce guided Libra Vita to a 1:54.1 victory in the $15,000 sub-feature trot. Howard Taylor and Tom Lazzaro own the Striking Sahbra-Balanced Scale gelding tasting victory for the first time this year. Matrix Hall (Ross Wolfenden) was second. NF Quotable (Tim Curtin) was third.
Second Hand News won for the second straight time and fourth in his last five races chalking up a 1:54.3 score in a $12,500 conditioned trot. Trainer Gary Evans and Foulk Stables own the Pathway To Victory-Mohawk Super Night gelding. IPO Blue Chip (Brad Hanners) was runner-up. Big Z Mirada (Vic Kirby) was the show horse.
Ron Pierce picked up his fourth win on the card squiring Richard Henry N to the winner’s circle in a Delaware $30,000 Male Claiming pace. It was the second win in a row for the Tinted Cloud-Glenda Byrd gelding owned by WJ McDougall Racing. Devils Embrace N (Eddie Davis Jr.) finished second in front of Funky Cole Medina (Jim Morand). Dreamluck, the fourth-place finisher, was claimed out of his fourth consecutive race.
Racing continues Sunday through Thursday through April 14, meet closing day. Dover Downs post time is now 4:30 p.m. daily for the balance of the season. No live racing on Fridays and Saturdays.
