Three-Way Tie Atop Woodbine Standings

Owner Costa Athanassoulias' Synerco Ventures Inc. moved into a three-way tie atop Woodbine Racetrack's owners standings on Friday night as four-year-old trotting mare Standing My Ground circled a field of males to win the second race.

Standing My Ground provided the Toronto-based Synerco Ventures with its sixth win so far this year at the Rexdale oval. Milton's Bradley Grant and Exeter's Robert Hamather have had six winners each as well this year at Woodbine.

Driven by Trevor Henry, outside post eight assignee Standing My Ground ($5.50) went from last to first to post a 1:58 victory. The popular Richard Moreau trainee prevailed over and Gunga Win and Bringing Sexy Back by more than three lengths. The victory was the Amigo Hall mare's first in eight 2014 starts as she dropped into a claiming class.

Other Woodbine wins this year for Synerco Ventures have come courtesy of Genesee, Play At Wynn and Designer Genes, who heads into her Saturday assignment riding a two-win streak.
