
Brandon Campbell was a familiar face in the Fraser Downs winner's circle on Thursday, March 13 with five driving wins including a score in the featured $10,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace.
In the top class of the evening, Outlaw Spiced Rum and Campbell worked out a pocket trip behind Grey Sea (John Abbott) through fractions in :27.2, :56.3, and 1:24.4. Turning for home, Outlaw Spiced Rum kicked into a new gear to score by 2-1/4 lengths in 1:53.4. In High Cotton (Kelly Hoerdt) grabbed second and Grey Sea completed the ticket for show.
Owned and trained by Rod Therres, Outlaw Spiced Rum is a seven-year-old daughter of Blue Burner - Billie J Blue Chip. She won her second straight race and second of the season. In 90 lifetime starts, the mare has posted a record of 32-20-9 with $180,522 banked. She paid $4.30 to win.
Campbell also won with Oscar The Grouch ($6.10), Catch Me On Top ($6.70), Born A Spy ($2.80), and Beach Myst ($2.70). Since the start of winter meet at Fraser Downs, Campbell sports a 0.537 UDRS by virtue of his 19-8-7 summary from 48 starts.
