On Friday, March 13 at the Meadowlands Racetrack, Foiled Again, the ageless wonder, participated in the second qualifying race of his 2015 campaign and hit the wire first, once again.
Foiled Again, in rein to driver Yannick Gingras, participated in Race 7 during the session. The track was rated ‘fast’ and the veteran pupil of trainer Ron Burke got right to work from Post 2 against four rivals.
Gingras and Standardbred racing’s richest earner ($6.9 million in career purses) left the gate and got down to the opening quarter-mile station in a tepid :28.1. The duo strolled to the opening half-mile marker in 57 seconds flat. The 11-year-old gelding took a jaunt along the final turn and proceeded to click off the three-quarters of a mile marker in 1:25.3. Foiled Again turned it up a notch through the lane, as he came home with a :27.2 final quarter mile and stopped the clock in 1:53.
Mach It So, driven by Tim Tetrick for trainer Jeffrey Bamond, finished second by one and a quarter lengths after a pocket ride. Anniesweterncard, who was driven by Matt Kakaley for trainer Ron Burke, raced third throughout the duration of the mile and finished three lengths behind Foiled Again.
A total of seven races went postward during the session. Other victorious horses on the morning were Muscularity (1:59.4), Muscolo (1:57.1), Not Before Eight (1:56.3), Validus Deo (1:55.4), Hall Bro (1:55.2) and Clear Vision (1:53).
