Red Star Zoro Still Rolling

The winning streak is now three in a row and counting for Red Star Zoro, who had very little problem disposing of six foes in Sunday’s $35,000 Prince Final for three and four-year-old male pacers at Fraser Downs

.

Trained and driven by Serge Masse, Red Star Zoro got away fifth in the early going while Gramrun Jake and Theseyesrcrying, who also hails from the Masse Stable, exchanged punches to the quarter pole in :28.1. They continued to battle tooth-and-nail to the half in :58.2 before the parked out trip started to take its toll on the parked out Theseyesrcrying. Red Star Zoro started an outside move on the way to the half, and by the time Gramrun Jake had the field at the three-quarter pole Red Star Zoro was just a length away while sitting second on the rim.

They were almost stride-for-stride at the head of the lane, but a :30.1 final quarter was more than enough for Red Star Zoro to put away the leader and hold off the backfield by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:57.2. Boom Shazam closed well to grab the runner-up award while Tahuya Clem C tagged along to finish third.

Sent off as one-half of the heavily-favoured entry, Red Star Zoro won for the third time this season and for the eighth time in his career. Masse shares ownership on the four-year-old son of Village Jiffy- Bring A Smile with Jarm Investments Ltd of Beaumont, AB. The lion’s share of the purse lifted her lifetime earnings to $46,638.
