Hat Trick For Don Mcwhite

After a slow start to the season, pacer Don Mcwhite has put the train back on the tracks as noted by three consecutive wins over the half-mile oval in London.

The Corey Johnson trainee was no better than seventh in four consecutive starts from December 17 to February 4, but Don Mcwhite has since reeled off three straight scores including a Monday evening triumph in the $8,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

Don Mcwhite and driver J Harris were parked every step of the way in that Monday melee, but it didn’t stop the five-year-old son of Mcardle-Banska Bela from winning. Down On My Luck threw down fractions of :29, :59.3 and 1:28.3 but Don Mcwhite kicked home in :30 to win by a length over that front-stepping foe in 1:58.4. Sure Please rounded out the top three finishers.

Sent off as the 1-5 favourite, Don Mcwhite posted improved his 2018 record to 3-0-0 from six starts for Corey Johnson and Sergis Racing Stable LLC. The 17-time winner pushed his lifetime earnings over $120,000 with the triumph.
