It turned out to be a solid Sunday at Fraser Downs for horseman John Chappell thanks to a trio of trips to victory lane with starters from his stable.
Chappell guided Alley Scat to a wire-to-wire win in Race 5. The veteran mare chopped out fractions of :30.1, 1:00.1 and 1:29.4 before using a :29.1 closing quarter to win in 1:59.
He swept the Late Double wager in Races 11 and 12 thanks to scores with Krystal Pistol in 1:58.4 and then with Bettors Mark in 1:57.3.
The Surrey, BC horseman, who recently celebrated his 600th training win, has put together a 12-for-60 record with his starters this season. He’s held a UTR over .300 for the last three years, and to date his barn has banked more than $3.3 million in purse earnings.
