Odds-on favourite Lauras Love lunged from the back of the pack to score a 1:53.4 win in the $25,000 featured pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday (March 11).
Kickupyaheels N cleared to the top to a :28 first quarter with Snow Shark sitting second all while Lauras Love settled into fifth in the sextet. The field stayed single file by a :56.4 half before Trafalgar fired first over out of third, supplying cover to Lauras Love to three-quarters in 1:25.2. Straightening for home, driver Bob McClure motored Lauras Love off a helmet and swept by her rivals while holding off the late rally from Lyons Tilt Hanover to win by a length at the beam. Trafalgar took third and Kickupyaheels N finished fourth.
A five-year-old mare by Betterthancheddar, Lauras Love won her second race from nine starts this season and her 13th from 48 overall. John Pentland trains and co-owns the $3.40 winner with Gracie Mae Barr, and her lifetime earnings now stand at $482,500 with the win.
