Lucky Jim, Arch Madness Finish 1-2

In 2009, only two horses crossed a finish line ahead of aged trotting sensation Lucky Jim. One of those trotters made his seasonal debut against the divisional kingpin during Thursday's session of qualifiers at the Meadowlands

Racetrack.

As expected, Lucky Jim was back for another tightener as trainer Julie Miller continues to prep her stable star for his highly-anticipated five-year-old campaign. Andy Miller had the SJs Photo gelding on top through splits of :29.3, :58.2, and 1:27 before asking him for more step coming home. Closing in :27.2, Lucky Jim qualified in 1:54.2, more than three lengths better than the returning Arch Madness and trainer-driver Trond Smedshammer.

All signs point to both of these elite trotters competing in the Su Mac Lad Series, which kicks off in three weeks on April 2.
