Trainer-driver Rod Therres took the top from the rail with Buddy Weiser and turned away all challenges to win the $12,000 Open Pace at Fraser Downs on Sunday, March 10.

The field lined single file in post-position order as Buddy Weiser led through a :28.3 quarter and :58.2 half. Odds-on favourite Iwontdothatagain, sitting fourth, angled first over circling the clubhouse turn and progressed towards the leader moving through the backstretch. Buddy Weiser maintained a length lead by three-quarters in 1:27.2 and sprinted clear of Iwontdothatagain through the lane to win by two and a half lengths in 1:54.2. Buddys Hope, riding the pocket, finished third.

A seven-year-old gelding by Western Ideal, Buddy Weiser won his 27th race from 78 starts, earning $225,893. Veikko Pajunen owns the $4.90 winner.
