Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame jockey Ron Turcotte has been hospitalized after having been involved in a motor vehicle accident in New Brunswick on Monday (March 9).
An article by the CBC states that Turcotte, pilot of the great Thoroughbred Secretariat, was involved in an accident on the Trans-Canada Highway near Four Falls at roughly 9:45 a.m. and was hospitalized in Perth-Andover.
The report states that the 73-year-old is being transported to Fredericton today and will see an orthopedic surgeon. Turcotte was paralyzed from the waist down in a 1978 racing accident at Belmont Park in New York.
The accident only involved one vehicle – a van – and the driver was also taken to hospital.
The article states that Turcotte’s injuries are not considered life threatening.
