Millionaire trotter Grain Of Truth started out his 11-year-old campaign in style, going wire-to-wire for trainer-driver Ray Schnittker in Friday night’s featured $17,500 Open Trot at Saratoga Casino and Raceway

. It was the first trotting Open of the year and it was won by a horse who has won so many Opens throughout the northeast in the last decade.

Grain Of Truth marched right out to the lead and after being aided by a soft first half of :59.4 and a break by race favourite Cold Winner, had plenty left in the tank to record the 69th win of his career. In 242 lifetime starts, Grain Of Truth has now tallied over $1.23 million. Howd That Feel (Brian Cross) sat the pocket and held strong for second while Lorenzo Dream (Billy Dobson) closed for third. The mile was trotted in 1:58.

Grain Of Truth paid $9.40 to win and led an exacta that returned $116.50.

The Self Possessed-Aimees Promise gelding is owned by Charles and Giorgan Iannazzo of Tappan, New York.
