Modern Rock needed every inch of the Lightning Lane to get there, but get there he did, capturing Wednesday’s (March 1) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $13,400 starter allowance pace.
Ice House threw down a 1:23.3 three-quarters to discourage most of the field, but he couldn‘t shake Modern Rock stalking from the pocket. When Ronnie Wrenn Jr. pointed him inside, the six-year-old Rock N Roll Heaven-Modern Hanover gelding finally wore down Ice House and edged him by a nose in 1:52.4. Benjis Best rallied for show.
Stacey Currie owns and trains Modern Rock, who lifted his lifetime bankroll to $151,041.
Wrenn piloted four winners on the 13-race card, including a pair for trainer Ron Burke, while Hunter Myers collected three wins, including two for trainer Norm Parker.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (March 2) when the 13-race program kicks off at 12:45 p.m. (EST).
