Dover Repeat For Fashion Showdown

Fashion Showdown made a round trip to victory lane thanks to a front-stepping score in Tuesday’s $20,000 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap at Dover Downs.

She rolled to an easy score by 6-3/4 lengths in last week’s edition of the class, but this time around things weren’t as comfortable at the end of the mile.

Corey Callahan had Fashion Showdown in high gear from Post 7, and together they were parked and driving at the quarter pole in :27.2. Fashion Showdown muscled to the front as the field moved in front of the grandstand, and from there she laid down middle splits of :55.4 and 1:23.3. A :27.3 closing quarter was good enough to earn her the win by three-quarters of a length over Duneside Chella in 1:51.1. Third prize went to Springforth.

Crag Mc Innis trains the six-year-old daughter of Village Jolt-Catch The Show for owner Chris White of Millsboro, Delaware. The victory was the fourth of the season – and the 18th to date – for the career winner of $198,005. She paid $3.80.
