Quebec native Richard Moreau topped all trainers on the WEG circuit in 2012, and a three-win performance Thursday evening at Woodbine Racetrack helped him to extend his lead in his quest to defend his training title.
The O’Brien Award finalist for Canada’s Trainer of the Year in 2012 joined forces with Sylvain Filion and together they swept the final three races on the 11-dash card with St Lads Morgan (1:54 - $5.30), Cardinal Zin (1:55.2 - $4.30) and Lady Sand Terror (1:57 - $10.70).
Moreau pushed this year’s win total to 48 while bumping his 2013 earnings to $488,982. He set personal single season records in 2012 thanks to his 344 wins and purse earnings of $3,667,843.
The Puslinch, ON horseman joined the 4,000-win club earlier this year and he’s on the verge of surpassing $32 million in career earnings.
